"Bats Are Our Friends! Our Bronze Award Project began in Fall, 2019 when EEE was our greatest concern! Our encampment had been cancelled, along with after-school activities and sports. Our team decided to address the problem of EEE. We learned that bats ate a LOT of mosquitoes and that bats were being threatened by disease and loss of habitat. So after learning more about bats at Drumlin Farm, we decided to build bat boxes to hang around town and attract mosquito-eating bats! We sold ready-made bat boxes and kits to residents of Sudbury and donated 5 assembled bat houses to Sewataro. We also wanted to educate people about the importance of bats and planned a bat party for younger girl scouts with games about bats, but those plans got cancelled due to Covid 19. So, we changed our plan to create an online, interactive book to teach kids about bats. Please download and read our book and let us know what you think by answering the brief survey at the end! (If you download and play our book in Powerpoint, you can hear us read it to you! Otherwise, you can read it yourself in Google docs). Enjoy - and help save bats!!" ~A 6-girl patrol from Troop 89245
